Dental Treatment Done in Time

Tooth contains its nerves & blood vessels in (pulp) its core part. Extending in to its roots. Any caries that does not extend to its pulp can be filled. Once it extends to its pulp tissue it infects the pulp causing severe pain, cannot be filled without root canal treatment or tooth needs to be removed. There is certain period of time between onsets of caries to infection of the pulp through it. Appearance of black spot on tooth surface indicates caries progression filling should be done at this point to avoid infection of pulp through it. It should be done as early as possible.

Shorter the period greater is the chances of saving the tooth & thus saving yourself from avoidable discomfort & pain associated with root canal therapy. Also saving your money over costly root canal therapy and probable tooth loss.

Each tooth has particular function to perform, every single tooth is important and during eating, speech and facial beauty collectively. Loss of any tooth leads to loss of one or all the functions of dentition.

Cleaning of tooth surface and areas at the junction of tooth and gingiva is called 'scaling'.

As any deposits on tooth surface leads to unhealthy appearance due to discoloration. Any deposits in the junction tooth and gingiva continuously irritates gingiva which leads to inflammation (swelling) of gums, which further makes this area difficult to clean thus leading to more inflammation and more deposits which ultimately leads to destruction of bone causing mobility of the tooth, gum bleeding, spongy gums & bad breath.

With scaling, these deposits are removed and further damage can be prevented.

Scaling does not remove the tooth substance but only diseased part of the tooth along with deposits. Whole procedure is associated with very little of pain. and this leads to caries.

Early caries detection

Timely filling of Caries/ Decay keeps you away from costly time consuming, discomfort related dental procedures along with possible tooth loss As you see in the picture below in the reversible stage just a filling can save the tooth from further damage but once this stage is crossed. Irreversible damage is done to the pulp of the tooth. Tooth can not be saved without root canal therapy. In certain case tooth cannot be saved with even root canal therapy . So there is every risk of tooth loss if early detection of caries along with its filling is not done in time. This is only possible if we pay regular visit to our dentist for checkup.

Early detection of gum disease saves you from bleeding gums& bad breath & possible tooth mobility & tooth loss as in the picture below with each passing stage of gum disease. It becomes more & more difficult complex & expansive to revert to original healthy gum status. Number of people having gum disease is enormous.

For keeping gums in healthy status we need to have professional cleaning (i.e., Scaling & polishing) of our dentition every six months.

Dental check up takes about an hour that too with a prior appointment. This hour spend time in a year can build confidence in you that you would not have dental pain & tooth loss. Thus saving you from expansive dental treatment which are due any time later on.
